Gaylord Pond Dam Repairs — Colebrook, Connecticut
The Brookside Farm Association, Inc. owns and operates Gaylord Pond Dam in Colebrook, Connecticut. This dam impounds Gaylord Pond, a 44-acre recreational pond. The dam was originally constructed during the first half of the twentieth century and is comprised of an earthen-embankment with a masonry wall on the downstream face. The dam is approximately 12 feet high at its deepest point and is 265 feet long. Per requirements of the Connecticut DEEP, the Brookside Farm Association retained LEI to prepare a comprehensive hydrologic and hydraulic assessment of spillway capacity and to prepare an Emergency Operations Plan for the dam.
Four years later, the Brookside Farm Association retained LEI to provide professional engineering design, permitting, and construction services to implement recommendations in LEI’s earlier studies and reports.
LEI conducted a comprehensive hydrologic and hydraulic assessment of the spillway, prepared an Emergency Action Plan, designed detailed plans and specifications for all construction work, and prepared a Connecticut DEEP Dam Safety Permit application. LEI also provided bidding assistance, construction observation, and contract administration services throughout the construction process.
