New Access Road for Regional High School No. 7 —
Winchester & Barkhamsted, Connecticut
LEI provided route selection feasibility analysis, design, permitting, right-of-way (ROW) mapping and construction-related services for this new 2,200-foot access road to Northwest Regional High School No. 7 in Winchester and Barkhamsted. Design plans were prepared according to ConnDOT and FHWA requirements.
The selected route had a 140-foot rise and wound through a wooded area to the school. LEI achieved an equal balance between cut and fill for the 50,000 cubic feet of earthwork while maintaining stringent horizontal and vertical alignment requirements. Stormwater detention was included in the design.
LEI also provided full-time construction observation services and maintained construction records which conformed with ConnDOT methodologies. The final construction cost was within one percent of the original construction contract value.
