A good water distribution system provides potable water in sufficient quantity and at adequate pressure for residential, commercial, and industrial use and for firefighting. Distribution systems use elevated water storage reservoirs and/or pump stations to assure uniform water pressure, provide for hourly variations in demand, and supply water to tall buildings or high portions of the community. In areas with steep terrain, water systems are usually divided into different pressure zones, interconnected with pump stations and pressure regulators.
LEI assists its water utility clients with comprehensive water distribution system evaluations and the design of improvements including distribution system computer modeling; hydrant flow and C-factor field testing; new water main design; water main cleaning and lining design; water service line replacement design; meter system retrofit design; directional drilling design; bridge, river, and railroad crossing design; and construction administration and Inspection services.
