Water Supply Development
One of the most fundamental aspects of planning for future development and land use is the provision of adequate supplies of water necessary for domestic, commercial, and manufacturing consumption. The basic water supply for a community or region is obtained from either surface water or groundwater sources. When selecting a source of supply, various factors must be considered: adequacy, reliability, quality, cost, legality, and politics. Cost, however, is probably the most important factor.
LEI’s experience in identifying, permitting, and designing new sources of supply can help your water utility develop and protect sources of supply for your community’s needs for today and tomorrow. LEI offers a range of surface water services including reservoir studies, bathymetric mapping, and reservoir safe yield studies. LEI’s in-house engineering and hydrogeologic staff can assist you with groundwater exploration studies, bedrock well studies, new well and pump design, pump test monitoring, state permitting, 2- and 3-dimensional groundwater modeling, Level A aquifer mapping, and ecological studies.
Following are LEI Project examples in Water Supply Development:
Water Diversion Permitting / Level A Aquifer Mapping, Jordan Brook Production Well — Waterford, Connecticut
Groundwater Source Permitting — Connecticut & Massachusetts
Future Reservoir Study — Wallingford, Connecticut
