New Water Main Extension — Willington, Connecticut

LEI was selected by the Town of Willington to design, permit and oversee construction of approximately 1,700 feet of new 12-inch water main to replace the existing community water system at the Hall Middle school.

One major design challenge on this project was crossing a 6' x 10' box culvert, which was done utilizing 12-inch pre-insulated water main and fitting to cross above the culvert. The project was completed in both town and State roadways and constructed with a State of Connecticut STEAP grant. In addition, LEI's design included abandonment of an existing hydropneumatic tank bulkheaded into the schools foundation wall, the existing wells and treatment systems, and the coordination of two separate contractors' work.
