Winsted Riverfront Recapture: Revitalization Phases I & II —
LEI created a new linear park along the Mad River and replaced an existing footbridge over the river. LEI's services included design, permitting (local, DEEP Flood Management Program & Stream Channel Encroachment Lines, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) and construction-related services for this two-phase recreational park project in downtown Winsted, Connecticut.
The first phase included creation of a new stone dust footpath along an abandoned railroad bed adjacent to the Mad River, with appurtenant landscaping, lighting, signage, benches and trash receptacles. The second phase included replacement of an existing foot bridge over the Mad River.
The project was part of the ISTEA enhancement program and was funded by the federal (80%) and local (20%) governments.
